August 27 – Jeremiah 46-48

Jeremiah 46-48

I came across this little devotion in my Bible of all places this morning.  It was so fitting I decided to share it with all of you. Enjoy

“Is our life right now in a state of change? Are there new developments that make you feel unsure of things, a little off-balance?  I know the feeling!

Jeremiah 48:11 reads ‘Moab (one of the heathen Gentile nations) has been at rest from youth, like wine left on its dregs, not poured from one jar to another – she has not gone into exile. So she tastes as she did, and her aroma is unchanged.’ And so Moab, in her state of complacency, would be smashed and poured out completely.

But God is committed to your improvement; He is even committed to your perfection, So he can’t leave you unchanged, ‘at rest from youth.’  He pours you from one jar to another – to leave behind the dregs, the imperfections.  Don’t be dismayed over disruptions and change, ‘Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus’ (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

The choice is renewal or stagnation, Let him pour you. It’s his process to make you more and more like Christ.
