I am often asked, “Sandra, would you teach me about prayer? As Christians we grasp the importance of Prayer; so much so, we worry we might pray incorrectly. We want our prayers to be heard and answered. We want to pray the right way to achieve the desired outcome. I am always glad to share what I have gleaned over the years. First and foremost, from this gal’s perspective, there’s no “right-way” to pray. And, the only wrong way to pray, would be to not pray at all!
There are some tips which make our prayer life more “flavorful”. Praying Scripture is one way. The Bible has many passages which may be used as prayer models. Many passages can be personalized simply by adding a name. Here is an example from Colossians 1:9-14. I continually pray for you, _________(insert name) asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. I pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified (insert name) to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he (God) has rescued me and (insert name) from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we, (you and I) have redemption the forgiveness of sins.
If we would pray this passage for our church leaders on a regular basis, imagine the impact it might have if they were filled with the knowledge of God’s will through all spiritual wisdom and knowledge. Imagine the work which could be done for the Kingdom.
If we would pray this for our children and grandchildren imagine the potential. Imagine what their life would be if they bore fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God and being strengthened with his power. Imagine….
If we would pray this pray for our friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and…. imagine the impact it might have. If we would pray similarly for our marriages. Imagine….
The lives of many could be changed, including ours. Imagine!
Until next time,
